What is Tallow?

Tallow is a form of rendered fat, which we source from organic beef that has been grass-fed and grass finished. It is used in various skincare and soap products and historically known for its incredible moisturising properties. It is rich in vitamins A, D, E, and K, and compatible with skin's natural biology.

Are Talglow products Halal?

The beef used to extract the Tallow is produced at a halal certified abattoir and vacuum sealed onsite before being transported to us.

Why choose tallow-based products over plant-based alternatives?

Tallow closely mimics the fatty acid profile of human skin oils and is compatible with the lipid barrier of the skin, making it exceptionally nourishing and facilitates better absorption and penetration. Plant-based products on the other hand, do not tend to penetrate as deep due to the molecular structure and composition being different to that of human skin. In short, tallow skincare is much more biocompatible and a more effective moisturiser than plant-based skincare :)

Where is the Tallow manufactured?

Our beef is a product of New South Wales, and is rendered down and manufactured in Sydney.

Do your products have a scent?

We offer both unscented and naturally scented options. Our scented products use essential oils to provide a pleasant, light fragrance without synthetic perfumes.

What is the shelf life of your tallow skincare products?

Our tallow products have a shelf life of up to 24 months. Store them in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight to maximize their lifespan.

Are your products cruelty-free?

Absolutely, our products uphold cruelty-free standards. We abstain from any form of animal testing and adhere to ethical and responsible sourcing practices. The beef used to produce the tallow is organic and comes from grass-fed, grass-finished cattle.

How do you process the Tallow?

To ensure it remains pure (tayyib) for many months after processing, we employ an ancient old method to remove any left over protein residues so that the product primarily contains just the beef fat. It is then triple-filtered further through an ultra-fine stainless steel strainer, and we take extra precautions to avoid contact with any plastic containers or materials that could leach inside, thus preserving the Tallow's natural healing qualities and purity before adding other low-allergen natural ingredients to provide a soft scent to the final product.
